James Norman “Jamie” Brewer, 53, passed away at his home in Jackson on Friday evening, Sept. 26, 2025.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. today, Sept. 29, in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Gregg Hussey will officiate. Burial will follow in Crockett Chapel Cemetery near Tiptonville.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the hour of services Monday.
Jamie was born in Dyersburg. Jamie was a loyal friend and protective brother. He loved fiercely and if you were lucky enough to be adored by Jamie, you were lucky enough. He flashed that brilliant smile when he listened to his favorite old country songs, found a toy car with wheels that were just right, drank a cup of coffee or Pepsi that hit the spot, or took a visit to Goodwill. He loved to laugh and had an infectious one. He loved country music with his entire soul. He was beloved by all his family and extended family, including his sister, Shannon Barnes and brother-in-law, Jim, of the Cayce community.
He is survived by his original nieces, precious to him, Anna Lyon (Cody Bobbitt) of Denver, Colo., and Ashley Archie (Eli) of Hickman, Ky. He also leaves behind a bonus niece, Alex Lewis (Josh) of Martin and bonus nephews, Logan Barnes (Joanna) of Bowling Green, Ky., and Lance Barnes of Hickman, Ky. What a gift it was to him to add more family. He leaves behind two great-nieces, Jenna Lewis and Naomi Barnes; and two great-nephews, Jaxon Lewis and Cooper Barnes. He has many “adopted” and family members that he chose to call his family and had a special bond with cousin, Joy Scott; and “adopted” sister, Amanda Cash. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins whom he cherished.
There are so many people who added to his daily life that are too numerous to name. Jamie left all those who knew him much better for the experience and he leaves us with lessons that will sustain us forever.
He was preceded in death by his incredible parents, Hank and Myra Brewer.
