FAMILY OF SLEUTHS
FAMILY OF SLEUTHS — Consistency paid off for the Payne family of Rives. For the past six or seven years, they’ve put their sleuthing skills to the test to find the Union City Coca-Cola Bottling Company medallion as part of Obion County Fall Fest activities. Hagan Payne (right) said they have “been there every year” where the medallion was found and sometimes felt they had walked over it hundreds of times, but not this year. This year, Payne said he and his family found it taped under a picnic table at Unity Park in South Fulton. He said “the second clue gave it away,” especially the wording “where two become one.” “We automatically knew it was Unity Park.” Payne, who was joined by his father, Matt, to collect the prize on Friday, said he and his wife will take a family trip with their children and his parents to East Tennessee to use the four tickets to Dollywood. They will also receive $200 in cash, Coca-Cola goodies and one free case of 12-pack canned drinks per week for one year for finding the medallion.
