YEAR’S BEST — Shyon Stephens of Union City (left) and Obion County Central’s Reed Logan have been named The Messenger-Obion County Basketball Prep Players of the Year for the 2019-20 season. Stephens, an undersized post player at 5-foot-10, averaged seven points and nine rebounds a game in helping the Lady Tornadoes post a 21-12 record and reach the semifinals of the Region 7A Tournament. Stephens came up big on the boards in several  games, including a stunning 54-52 win over state-ranked Westview, which reached the Class AA state tournament. Logan eclipsed 2,000 points for his career, averaging 18.8 points a game as a senior. He had a team-best 29 points against Humboldt early in the season. The Rebels finished with a 13-12 record. The awards go to the top senior players from among Obion County’s three high schools.
