Alice Lyell

Mrs. Alice June Lyell, 78, of the Midway community passed away 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Magnolia Ridge Care and Rehabilitation.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Rev. Frank Gardner will officiate. Burial will follow in Stanley Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from noon until the hour of services Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Adam Petty, Jacob Behel, Logan Petty, Reid Crittendon, Joseph Brooker and Terry Crittendon.
Alice was born Nov. 7, 1947, in Paris, daughter of the late Eugene Glisson and the late Atlean (Weatherspoon) Broach. She married Marshall Lyell Jan. 28, 1967. Alice had been employed for many years at area sewing factories and retired as secretary from the family business Midway Auto Salvage. She is a member of Stanley’s Chapel Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Marshall Lyell of the Midway community; her son, Ricky Lyell (Tina) of the Midway community; her daughter, LaDawn Petty of Hendersonville; four grandchildren, Sabrina Lyell of the Midway community, Katie Witherspoon (Adam) of Martin, Adam Petty (Jacob Behel) of Nashville and Logan Petty of Martin; one great-grandson, Jeffrey Witherspoon of Martin; four sisters, Mary Ann Bailly and Ruthie Broach, both of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Carolyn Shumaker (Allen) of Scott City, Mo., and Debbie Bates (Dan) of Hot Springs, Calif.; one brother, Joe Broach of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one stepbrother, Darrell Broach of Murray, Ky.; and her uncle and aunt, Jimmy and Brenda Weatherspoon of Humboldt.
She was also preceded in death by one stepbrother, Jackie Broach.
