Charles McIlwain

Mr. Charles Woodrow McIlwain, 95, of Union City passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Cane Creek Rehabilitation Center in Martin.
Memorial visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2026.
Charles was born Aug. 12, 1930, in Enid, Okla., son of the late John and Vira (Tansil) McIlwain. He was the widower of Clara (Robey) McIlwain, who preceded him in death May 30, 2006. Charles retired from the United States Air Force with the rank of Master Sergeant, where he served from 1946 to 1967. He was a lifetime member of the National Association of Uniform Services and the National Rifle Association. Charles was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by two daughters, Sarah Kay (David) of Union City and Allyson Lewis (Joe) of Woodland Mills; one stepdaughter, Katherine Tallent (Joe) of Clinton, Ky.; one sister, Margaret Kennedy of Union City; eight grandchildren, Jonathan Lee Byrd (Jessica) of Union City, Alexandria Laken Burnes (Orin) of Rives, Anthony Michael Williams and Taylor Beth Stroud, both of Woodland Mills, Ashton Blake Lewis of Knoxville, Steven Tallent of Oklahoma City, Okla., Dixie Walker of Troy and Aleigha Walker of Union City; and eight great-grandchildren, Teddy Byrd, Sawyer Burnes, Halen Williams, Rhiannon Burnes, Charli Tefteller, Bentley Tefteller, Sophia Tallent and Sabrina Tallent.
He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Charles Wesley Byrd and Samantha Tallent; one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Wesleigh Lewis; one brother, Gunnery Sergeant John McIlwain, United States Marine Corps; and four sisters, Mary Wright, Judy McIlwain, Jeanie Hollingsworth and Barbara Simmons.
