Robert Hester
Robert Dewayne Hester, age 66, of Obion passed away on Dec. 12, 2023, at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital.
He was born Dec. 25, 1956, in East Prairie, Mo., to the late Delmas Hester and Pauline Carter.
He married Phyllis Ann Lane-Hester on Nov. 21, 1986, who still survives of the home.
Robert was a Veteran of the United States Army with the rank of Sergeant, E-5 NCO for 13 years, before receiving his honorable discharge. He also worked as a manufacturer for Goodyear for 13 years until it closed. Following working for Goodyear, he worked for Titan Tire from 2012 to 2019 when he retired. Robert enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR. He was a loving father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Travis Robert Hester of Obion and Matthew Hester of Portland, Ore.; one daughter, Cole Overton (Kyle Conner) of Centerville; two brothers, Franklin Leon (Martha) Hester of Clarksville and Ricky Hester of Bertrand, Mo.; one sister, Patsy Hester of Mayfield, Ky.; three grandchildren, Anwar Overton of Centerville, Rex (James) Hooper of Union City and Karina Barnes of Martin; one great-granddaughter, Aurelia Overton of Union City; and numerous cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jennet “Phylis” Hester; and one brother Jessie Hester.
The visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, Mo. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 2 p.m.
Ponder Funeral Home is in charge of all services and arrangements.
