Vivian Whitehead
Mrs. Vivian Elaine (Thompson) Whitehead, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at the age of 76. She was born on Oct. 5, 1947, in Union City to Russell “Jack” Warren and Martha Elizabeth Thompson.
Vivian married Harold Franklin Whitehead Jr. on Feb. 20, 1966. Before beginning her career with White-Ranson Funeral Home, Vivian was a licensed cosmetologist. Her life was filled with love and dedication to her family and community. Many will remember her gift of playing the piano and organ at many local churches and funerals. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Union City. She had a servant’s heart and lived a life centered around serving others.
Vivian leaves behind her children, Amy Moody (Kevin Thompson) of Huntingdon and H. Brandon Whitehead (Michelle) of Old Hickory; her grandchildren, Peyton Moody, McKenna Moody Fry (Hayden), Ella Whitehead and Walker Whitehead; her great-granddaughters, Sayla Mitchell and Braelyn Fry; her sister, Nancy Gray (Andy); brother, Russell Thompson (Rachel); and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a very special friend, Herman Denning.
Other than her parents and infant brother (Richard Wayne Thompson), she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Whitehead (2003).
Vivian’s Celebration of Life was to be held today, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. at White-Ranson Funeral Home. Visitation with family and friends was Tuesday, Dec. 5, from 5-8 p.m. and 11 a.m. until the service time today at the funeral home. The Rev. Ben Lownsdale was to officiate.
The burial was to follow at East View Cemetery.
Pallbearers were to be Kevin Gray, Kevin Thompson, Gray Pearson, Bob McClure, Knoa Thompson, Hayden Fry, Lucas Ward and Mike Hardy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to a charity of choice in Vivian’s memory.
