Robert McMillon
Robert Lynn “Balls” McMillon, 76, of Union City passed away 5:07 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, at Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, Ky.
Memorial visitation was held at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from noon-2 p.m. Saturday.
Robert was born Oct. 4, 1946, in Hornbeak, son of the late Robert Dewey McMillon and the late Pansy (Brewer) McMillon. He was a 1964 graduate of Obion County Central High School.
Robert was a retired electrician with IBEW Local 613 in Atlanta, Ga. He served as a helicopter gunner in South Vietnam in the United States Army, where he actively participated in more than 25 aerial missions over hostile territory in support of counterinsurgency operations. Robert was presented the Air Medal for courage and devotion displayed to his service and was awarded the Oak Leaf Cluster. He was a member of Jones-Walker Post 4862 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He drag raced for years and enjoyed playing pool and going to the ocean.
He is survived by two daughters, Shanna Perdue and husband, Chuck, of Paducah, Ky., and Bridget Miller and husband, Buddy, of Franklin, Ga.; two sons, Denny McMillon and wife, Jessica, of Villa Rica, Ga., and Keith McMillon of Stockbrige, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Ashlyn Berry, Kayla Webb, Jackie Gilmore, Korey Holder, Chandler Cline, Mathew Burleson and Jessalynn Miller; and three great-grandchildren.
