Jerry McTernan
Iva Gerald “Jerry” McTernan, 80, of Rives passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.
Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.
Jerry was born Sept. 21, 1945, in Samburg, son of the late Iva and Sarah Basha (Reed) McTernan. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, watching the Detroit Tigers play baseball and was a Mason. Jerry retired as a supervisor with General Motor Company in Detroit, Mich., after more than 30 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn (Quillin) McTernan of Rives; two daughters, Shelly Quillin of Rives and Ra-Chel Hozian (Charles) of Granite City, Ill.; three grandchildren, Chelsie Cline (Shaun) of Toano, Va., Sidney Downs of Bethalto, Ill., and Becca Quillin of Rives; and three great-grandchildren, Averi Tretter and Karaline Tretter. both of Bethalto, Ill., and Lawson Cline of Toano, Va.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ovita Burcham and Ilene Hamilton; and three brothers, Gene McTurner, Curtis McTurner and Bruce McTurner.
