Maxie Peal, 100, formerly of Union City, died peacefully in her sleep June 20, 2025, at EagleCrest Nursing and Rehab in Ash Flat, Ark.
She was born Sept. 26, 1924, to Charlie and Mai Ferrell of Hickman, Ky. She married J.S Peal on Oct. 4, 1942. He died in 2003. She retired from Brown Shoe Co. in Union City in 1987 after 34 years.
She is survived by her three children, Floyd Peal (Doris) of Obion, Wanda Peal Maddox (Orbie) of McKinney, Texas, and Thomas Peal of Melbourne, Ark. She had four grandchildren, Bob Peal (Jeanne) of Kingsport, Barry Peal of Tiptonville, Matthew Maddox (Jennifer) of McKinney, Texas, and the late Shawnda Peal Eckard. She had five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She also had numerous nieces and nephews in Kentucky, Tennessee, Texas and Georgia.
“Ms. Maxie” considered pretty much everyone she met a friend, and pretty much everyone who met her felt the same.
She will be missed by her family and friends, and memories of her cherished.
A memorial service in Union City will be held at a later date, not yet determined.
