Dolly Faye Howard

Dolly Faye Howard (nee Crossnoe) of Hornbeak passed away at home on June 12, 2025.
Born on May 9, 1933, her long and bright life was filled with faith, family, friends and flowers.
She was active in the Tennessee-Western Kentucky United Methodist Conference as a Preacher’s Wife, as a parishioner in many church communities and as a pillar of the Hornbeak United Methodist Church family. Whether we knew her as Dolly, Faye, Mom, Nannie/Nanny, fellow parishioner, neighbor or friend, she loved each of us as family and was looking out for us until she was called home by the Lord. The adventures and accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren brought her terrific joy. She taught us to cook, garden, decorate for the holidays in the grandest fashion and to take care of each other.
Dolly Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Flossie; her husband, Rev. W.C. Howard; her sisters, Lee, Pearline, Virginia, and Linda; her daughters, Sherry Mae and Janice Lynn; and son, William “Bill” Howard. She is survived by a loving family, including her daughter, Jane Hammond (Gerald); and sons, David and Michael (Arleen); her grandchildren, Kim Wayne (Kim), Melissa (Cameron), Kenny, William (Susan), Jennifer (Michael), Regina (Dusty) and Joseph; and many cherished great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, who all love her dearly.
Service and visitation will be held at Hornbeak United Methodist Church at a later date, with burial to follow at Oakland Cemetery in Trenton. The family is thankful to Corinthian Funeral Home and Ret. Rev. Judd Mowery for assisting with arrangements and to the skilled and kind professionals of the Hornbeak Fire Department, Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and Gentiva Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either Hornbeak United Methodist Church (207 Glass Road, Hornbeak, TN 38232) or to Reelfoot Rural Ministries (www.reelfoot.org/donate).
