Billy Stricklin
Billy Joe Stricklin passed away on August 14, 2024 at the age of 66 in Medina, Tennessee. Bill was born to Ruby and John Stricklin, on October 14, 1957, in Savannah, Tennessee. As a child, he
enjoyed building things and playing outside with his six siblings. Bill studied at the University of Tennessee-Martin, where he met his wife of 44 years, Ramona. They moved to Dallas, TX one year after they married and had three children before moving to Greenfield, Tennessee. You could always find Bill in church for Wednesday and Sunday services. He was deeply committed to
his Christian faith and church community. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenfield, where he taught Sunday school for the senior adult men’s class. His faith extended to works in the community, as he helped build houses for Habitat for Humanity. He was also proud of his mission working South Africa, Ukraine, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Brazil. Anyone who knew Bill knew his dedication to work and to (literally) building his community. He would often say if you “had time to lean, then you had time to clean.” Bill ran a construction company for decades, where he built hundreds of houses in Greenfield and the surrounding areas. He also worked with his close friend of over 40 years, Keith Tucker, at the Marble Shop. In 2013, Bill moved to North Dakota to work in the oil fields, where he planned to retire with Marathon Oil this year. An obituary seems inadequate to encompass his life, or the life Bill wished for after his retirement. As a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Bill looked forward to traveling and spending time with loved ones. We who are left to write and read this much too short recap of his life already feel his absence and miss him so much, but we are filled with the love from a life well lived. Bill is survived by his wife Ramona, his children Blake (Stefanie), Chelsea (Josh), and Taylor, his grandchildren Elliott and Lily, his siblings George (Sharon), Jane, Frances, Jim (Pam), Bobby, and Julie (Jock). He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Ruby and father John. Services for Mr. Stricklin will be held Sunday August 18th at First Baptist Church in Greenfield at 2 pm. Burial to follow in Brock’s Cemetery in Greenfield. Visitation will begin Saturday evening at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield going from 6 pm to 8 pm. It will resume Sunday at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church and go until time of his service. Flowers are appreciated, but for those who would like to make a donation can to First Baptist Church Memorial Fund designated for “Missions.”
