Carrie Hatchel

Mrs. Carrie Woodrough Hatchel, 87, of Martin, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023, at her home. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin with Bro. Corey Sawyers officiating. Burial followed in East Side Cemetery in Martin. Pallbearers were Bradley Hatchel, Chris Hatchel, Jacob Hatchel, Gatlin Hatchel, Matt Benjamin and Evan Forhetz. Before retirement she and her husband owned and operated the Martin Dairy Queen. She was a member of the Martin Church of Christ. She is survived by her sons, Timothy Joe (Sherry) Hatchel of Dresden, Michael Allen (Linda) Hatchel and Edward Gwenn Hatchel, both of Martin; eight grandchildren, Wesley, Chris, Bradley (Christy), Jacob (Paige), Lindsey (Matt), Gatlin (Lauren) Carrie Kathyrn (Evan) and Shelby; eight great-grandchildren, Kennith, Kody, Kimberly, Braylen, Asher, Bryce, Drengr and Elle; and three great-great-grandchildren, Laylin, Banks and Annalyse. Mrs. Hatchel was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Billy Joe Hatchel; her son, Gary Hatchel; her parents, Tobe Woodrough and Sallie Laws Woodrough.
