Betty Stockdale
Betty Lou Stockdale, 74, of the Shawtown community passed away 11:36 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Wilson Walley officiated. Burial was in Cobbs Chapel Cemetery.
Betty was born Jan. 15, 1949, in Union City, daughter of the late Thomas and Alice (Rooks) Dowell. She married Bobby Stockdale Sr. in 1981. He survives. Betty was a graduate of Union City High School and Bethel University. She had been employed as a Head Start teacher, the Obion County Sheriff’s Department and was director of the local American Red Cross.
She is also survived by two sons, Rob Adcock of Rector, Ark., and Chris Stockdale and wife, Kathryn, of Hornbeak; one stepdaughter, Beth Partelow of Belleville, Ill.; one stepson, Bobby Stockdale Jr. and wife, Karen, of South Fulton; seven grandchildren, Lily Stockdale of Hornbeak, Payton Partelow and Bailey Meldrom and husband, Jared, all of Belleville, Ill., Tori Stockdale of New Bern, N.C., Ariel Beasley of South Fulton and Alex Long and husband, Cole, of Lyerly, Ga.; one great-granddaughter, Mila Beasley of South Fulton; and one brother, Dr. David Dowell of Canada.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Dowell; and one brother, Tom Dowell.
