Martin man arrested with over 30 grams of marijuana
A Martin man was arrested with over 30 grams of marijuana after a traffic stop was conducted in Dresden.
On Jan. 27 at 6:15 p.m., Deputy Joseph Crocker with the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department, observed a purple four-door vehicle traveling on Turner Road in Dresden with a driver side headlight and tag light out.
When contact was made with the driver, Crocker detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. The driver and passenger both stated that they had smoked prior to the traffic stop and when searching the vehicle, 30.9 grams of marijuana was recovered.
The driver, 23-year-old John David Carithers, was asked to perform a battery of tests which he performed in a manner which would have been unsafe if he were to continue operating the vehicle on roadways.
Carithers consented to a blood sample and was taken to Volunteer ER where the sample was taken.
Carithers was charged with violation of light law, possession of Schedule VI and DUI first offense.
DISCLOSER: Information obtained came from the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department affidavit provided by Deputy Joseph Crocker.
In other words, he had an OUNCE of marijuana. For those normal Americans who don’t use the metric system, that makes it sound like he had a huge quantity.
Exactly what I was thinking. One ounce!!!! Let’s legalize this thing and tax it.
