CHIMES TIME — Longtime Chimes for Charity volunteer Kristi Townes (left) and Chimes coordinator Stacy Hogan gave last-minute instructions to a parent during the program’s annual children’s shopping tour Sunday afternoon at Walmart Supercenter in Union City. The event provided new winter clothing, shoes and accessories for selected less fortunate school-age children and Head Start kids from throughout Obion County, who shopped with a parent or guardian instead of community volunteers for a second consecutive year at the store’s request. The school-age children were each treated to $150 worth of new clothing, while Head Start children could each shop for $75 worth. A total of 250 children in need were chosen to shop this year. Chimes is in its 87th year of providing food, clothing and toys to less fortunate families across the county at Christmas.
