Bill Collins & Tommie Collins

Mr. William Shelby “Bill” Collins, 88, of Union City passed away 7:53 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson. His wife, Mrs. Tommie Jean Collins, 88, of Union City passed away 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Funeral services for the couple were to be conducted 1 p.m. today, Sept. 28, 2021, in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Dr. Chris Gooch was to officiate. Burial was to follow in East View Cemetery.
Pallbearers were to be Richie Collins, Carson Collins, Austin Collins, Keith Edgin, Christian Kanavel and Corey Kanavel.
Visitation was to be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the hour of services.
Bill was born July 18, 1933, in Hardin County, son of the late Robert Nixon and Gracie (Shelby) Collins. Tommie was born Aug. 24, 1933, in Bogota, daughter of the late Jessie and Ruby (England) Spence. They were married Dec. 20, 1952.
Bill retired from the City of Union City as wastewater manager. He served in the Tennessee National Guard, was past president of the Tennessee Wastewater Association and past president of Model A Restorers Club. Tommie was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and collecting antiques. They were members of Exchange Street Church of Christ.
They are survived by two sons, Billy Collins and Kimmy Collins and his wife, Kimmy, all of Union City; five grandchildren, Austin Collins, Richie Collins and Kimberly Edgin, all of Union City, Angie Collins of Selmer and Christy Adams of Martin; and seven great-grandchildren.
Bill is also survived by two brothers, Warren Collins and his wife, Teresa, and Shelton Collins and his wife, Janie, all of Union City. Tommie is also survived by one brother, Thomas Spence and his wife, Faye, of Jackson.
Bill was also preceded in death by one son, Wayne Collins; one sister, Sarah Lewis; and four brothers, Jerry Collins, Jamie Collins, Henry Collins and Clint Collins. Tommie was also preceded in death by one brother, Frank Spence.
