Heavenlee Weatherspoon
Ms. Heavenlee Weatherspoon, 13, of Union City died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 22, 2021, at Rawls Funeral Home Chapel.
Heavenlee Devine Wea-therspoon was blessed into this life on June 7, 2007, in Kennett, Mo., to Marvin Burns and Cherice Weatherspoon.
She was truly something special. Early in life, she attended Christ Our Redeemer AME in Saint Louis, Mo., until she moved to Union City in 2014 and became part of the Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church family, where she was loved by everyone. She was a student at Union City Middle School, where everyone there became part of the family. She fought a lifelong battle with epilepsy until God called her home.
Heavenlee’s personality was so vibrant. As a toddler, she would run around the house asking everyone “do you want a piece of me,” with her tiny fist balled up and the biggest smile on her face. Her smile was contagious. She never met a stranger. She touched the heart of everyone who crossed her path. She had such a big heart! She did not need to know your name to give you a big hug and let you know you are loved. She loved being surrounded by family and friends. That was her favorite pass time.
This little girl was the highlight of our lives. She enjoyed singing and dancing and would have TikTok challenges with her older brother. Of course, we knew she would win. She loved to cook, draw, paint her nails and play games on her phone. Not only did she love her Gatchalife, but she also loved her music and she would listen to it all day, every day. Heavenlee was a kid that was profoundly grateful and never took life for granted. A few of us could learn from her. With the short time that she had on this earth, she made sure it was full of love. Heavenlee lived up to her name; she was a piece of heaven on earth.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her parents, Marvin Burns and Cherice Weatherspoon; her great-grandparent, Eva Mae Weatherspoon; grandparents, Helena and Roy Weatherspoon, Lee Kimble and Ronnie Williamson; her siblings, DeAndre Weatherspoon, Kaylon McClendon, Ani’Zja Weatherspoon, Marvon Burns and Journee Weatherspoon; a special cousin, Ziah Jacobs; aunts and uncles, Tonia Smith (Edward), Roy Weatherspoon, Helena Weatherspoon, Chantelle Weatherspoon (Corey), Devon Weatherspoon, Tammy Parker and Lee McBee; and a host of great-aunts and uncles, cousins and friends to cherish her memories as well.
Preceding her in death were an aunt, Theresa Weatherspoon; and cousin, Kjuan Smith.
