Reba Tate

Born Dec. 29, 1919 in Piggott, Ark, she was the daughter of the late Ivory and Hattie (Box) Helton. After the death of her mother, she was raised by Claude and Mamye (Box) Sims. She was a homemaker, a faithful Christian and a member of Cottonwood Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cottonwood Baptist Church, conducted by her grandson, Ricky Burse, and the Rev. Paul Adams. Music will be provided by her grandson and his wife, Steven and Wendy Tate. Interment will follow in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely.  
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Randy Burse, Kelly Bartlett, Stan Welch, Timothy Tate, Bryan Melton and Jordan Burse. The family will receive friends today from 5-8 p.m. at the church. Curry Funeral Home in Dyersburg is in charge of arrangements.
The family requests memorials be directed to Cottonwood Baptist Church, 125 Gratio Road, Ridgely, TN 38080; or New Pathways for Children, P.O. Box 10, Melber, KY  42069.
She is survived by her four daughters and sons-in-law, Delores and Gen Burse) and Joyce and Lynn Welch, all of Dyersburg, Alice and Wayne Cranford of Ridgely and Marsha and Danny Bartlett of Martin; two sons and daughters-in-law, W.C. and Wanda Tate of Kenton and Ronnie and Nancy Tate of Carrollton, Texas; two sisters, Cathy Higgins of Kansas City, Mo., and Arlie Storer of Chicago; her brother, Julius Helton of Senath, Mo; 10 grandchildren, Ricky Burse, Pam Deming, Stan Welch, Randy Burse, Melissa Cranford, Timothy Tate, Angie Cursey, Steven Tate, Kelly Bartlett and Pam Tate; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a special niece, Peggy Robinson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Till Tate; her son, Michael “Punkin” Tate; four sisters and three brothers.
