Louise Lyons

Services were 3 p.m. Sunday at Cryer Funeral Home in Obion, with burial following there in Rose Hill Cemetery. J.D. Sanders and Jason McConnell officiated. Special music was provided by Christie Thompson.
Pallbearers were Taylor Barnett, Kris Hopper, Knox Blackburn, Evan Blackburn, Jason McConnell and Jimmy McConnell. Honorary pallbearers were Donnie Hopper, Dale Lyons, Ken Lyons, Jimmy Watson and Josh Sanders.
She was born Dec. 12, 1927, in Wayne County, daughter of the late Joseph and Myrtle (Tatum) Tharpe. She married James Lyons in 1946 and he preceded her in death Aug. 29, 2011.
Louise will be remembered as a kind and gentle wife, mother and grandmother who always had a smile. She had a quiet strength and never complained.
She always put her family first. She loved to garden and crochet and was a great cook.
She is survived by four daughters and her sons-in-law, Gail McConnell of Union City, Joyce and Donnie Hopper of Dresden, Becky and J.D. Sanders of Katy, Texas, and Anita Larsen of Panama City Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Alton Tharpe of Pensacola, Fla., J.W. Tharpe of Newbern and Larry Tharpe of Finley; and three sisters, Shirley Carnell of Newbern, Peggy Rainey of Obion and Sherry Dunlap of Dyersburg.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Kate Wagenecknecht, Janie Hollingsworth and Faye Davis.
