TAKING FLIGHT — Lake Road School’s ESP/21st CCLC after-school program enjoyed its first field trip of the year Friday to Everett-Stewart Regional Airport near Union City, where pilot Larry Russell of Russell Flying Service explained aerial applicators (crop dusting) and various aircraft to the students. All month, the students have focused on all things aviation. One of their main focus points was careers in aviation. Russell Flying Service sponsored the field trip to help show what Obion County has to offer in the field of aviation. Other presenters (not pictured) included pilot Mike Rinker, who did an aerial show for students’ enjoyment and explained the airport is the front door to Obion County; William Waggoner, who opened his mechanic shop and explained the importance of having an on-site aircraft mechanic; and airport board member Sammy McCollum, who led tours of the terminal.
