Tom Roberson Posted: Friday, August 17, 2012 4:00 pm Thomas Gardner “Tom” Roberson, 76, of Hornbeak died Aug. 17, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Hornbeak Church of Christ, with Bobby Stewart officiating. Harold Davidson will be song leader. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday. Burial will follow in Hornbeak City Cemetery, with Cryer Funeral Home in Obion in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be David Roberson, Randy Roberson, Terry Roberson, Bob Reavis, Aaron Smith and Jamie Roney. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Smith, Clen Reavis, David Dean, Buddy Smith, Tom Williams, Johnny Asbille, Charles Harris and Jerry Grady. The family requests that donations be made to Hornbeak City Cemetery, P.O. Box 265, Hornbeak, TN 38232 or to Baptist Hospice Services. P.O. Box 621, Union City, TN 38281. He was born March 18, 1936, in Wynnburg, son of the late Odie B. and Fannie Odessa (Yates) Roberson. He married the former Meredith Short, who survives. He was affiliated with Roberson Sawmill and the former Hornbeak Feed and Grain store and was a farmer. He was a member of Hornbeak Church of Christ. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Kim Roberson of Hornbeak; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Randy Roney of Union City; his sister, Imogene Ross of Martin; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Tyler Roberson of Clarksville, Katie (Roney) and Eric Hill of Dyersburg, Jamie Roney, Lyndsey (Roney) and Seth Prather and Abby Roney, all of Union City, Kristin (Roberson) and Tyler Kendall of South Fulton, Rachel Roberson of Nashville and Bradley Grady of Hornbeak; and four great-grandchildren, Reese Taylor of Nashville, Aubrie Hill of Dyersburg, Pyper Prather of Union City and Grayson Kendall of South Fulton. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Ilar Roberson, Toy Roberson, Carl Roberson and Buddy Roberson; and three sisters, Artie Smith, Lucille Weaver and Alma “Tootsie” Rhodes.
