Paris Landing State Park invites the public to spend the first day of summer at the Great American Backyard Campout Friday and Saturday.
The campout is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the warm weather while also spending time with the entire family, a spokesman said.
The campout will be held at the Little Eagle Group Camp beginning Friday at 1 p.m. through Saturday at 9 a.m. Several special events and programs are planned, including nature hikes, outdoor cooking, birds of prey and campfire stories.
“Rain or shine, this is a great event for the entire family, even if you have never spent a night in a tent before. It is also an opportunity to meet other families that share the same desire to camp and spend time in the great outdoors,” a spokesman said.
Families will need to bring their own camping gear. Registration is required and there is a $15 charge for families, which covers dinner on Friday. Reservations are required by contacting the park office at (731) 641-4465.
Paris Landing State Park is an 841-acre park located on the western shore of the Tennessee River, which is dammed to form Kentucky Lake. The park sits on the widest part of the lake and is the perfect location for all water sports such as fishing, boating, swimming and skiing. On land, there is plenty of activity with golfing, hiking, camping or just relaxing and enjoying the natural beauty and wildlife. Be on the lookout for the deer, turkey, fox and coyote that roam the park. Eagles can be seen in the winter months.
