Sherry Goudey
Mrs. Sherry Ann Goudey, age 88, a resident of Martin, passed away on Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, at Dogwood Pointe Memory Care in Milan. She was born on Jan. 24, 1938, in Martin to the late Odie Forrester and Goldie Baldridge Forrester.
Sherry was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Union City and a retired Registered Nurse, serving as CCU Charge Nurse and Nursing Supervisor at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Sherry enjoyed going for walks, listening to country and gospel music and cherished her church, beauty and people. Always ready to help someone in need, she especially loved spending time playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Leonard “Bud” (Jessica) Goudey II of Dresden; three grandchildren, Brittany A Goudey of Martin, Leonard “BJ” (Debbie) Goudey III of Dresden and Lucy Hargrove of Dresden; four great-grandchildren; four siblings, Robbie Lyons of South Fulton, Tim (Wanda) Forrester of Dresden, Glenda Chase of Houston, Texas, and Steve Forrester of Latham.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Goudey was preceded in the death by her husband, Leonard Goudey I; one grandson, Kurt Goudey; nine siblings, Murvil Forrester, William Forrester, Cecil “Jack” Forrester, Ida Baldridge, Virginia Sills, Donnie Forrester, Allene Farmer, Jean Caldwell and June Harper.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026, from noon until the hour of service at Murphy Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home.
Bro. Melvin Poe will officiate.
Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Dresden.
