DAZZLING DISPLAY

DAZZLING DISPLAY — Woodland Mills Mayor Joe Lewis recently worked on a special Christmas light display at his home on Olive Street in Maplehurst Subdivision. He installs the display, which includes music and a skit, each year for the community’s enjoyment. This year’s theme is “Small Town Community,” which was written by South Fulton High School students Hannah Roach, Ella Burden and Lexie Martin and English teacher Allen Pounds. The 25-minute program can be heard by tuning into radio station 88.1, as well as on the lewisfamilylightshow.com website, where viewers can select which song they wish to start with while watching the show. The website also offers the ability for kids to write a letter to Santa. Lewis reminds area residents there will be a free Pictures with Santa event Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Woodland Mills’ civic center. Other local Christmas events include the Union City parade Thursday at 6:30 p.m.; Obion parade Friday at 7 p.m.; Twin Cities of Fulton and South Fulton parade Saturday at 5 p.m., followed by a tree lighting ceremony, fireworks and chili supper; Troy parade Saturday at 6 p.m.; Kenton’s White Squirrel Christmas festivities, including bingo Thursday at 6:30 p.m., Christmas Shoppe starting 11 a.m. Saturday, parade Saturday at 6:30 p.m., 12 Squirrels of Christmas Scavenger Hunt Saturday through Dec. 17 and Premier Pro Wrestling at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 19; and Hornbeak parade Dec. 13 at 7 p.m.
