HELPING HAND — Lynn Elam of Rives took advantage of sunny skies and afternoon temperatures in the upper 60s to clear flood debris from an elderly resident’s backyard in Rives, which was hit hard by flooding the weekend of Feb. 15-16. Elam was joined by his wife, Sheri, as they waded a water-filled ditch to lend a hand and help someone else in need in the aftermath of the disaster. Assistance for flood victims has come from many directions outside the community as well in recent days as cleanup efforts continue.
