OC Schools to begin classes

Students in the Obion County School System will begin classes on Tuesday.

Children will be bringing home first-day forms that need to be filled out and returned to their schools.
Pre-K, kindergarten, and seventh grade students need to have their proof of immunizations turned in no later than Sept. 1. Pre-K and kindergarten students need to also include proof of their physical.

“This year our school district has incorporated a new safety system for all schools. This new system will run the visitor’s ID, or name and date of birth, through the registered sex offender database. So, any visitor will need to bring an ID with them to any of our schools. We would also like to note that no data, other than a name and birthday, is collected by the system. Once entry is approved, our system will issue a badge that identifies the visitor, the date and the purpose of his/her visit. A visitor’s badge will not be necessary for those who visit our schools simply to drop off an item in the office or pick up paperwork. We ask for your patience as we make this transition and your understanding that the safety of our students is our highest priority,” said Lauren Kendall, communications director, Obion County Schools.
