Barbara Simmons

Barbara Simmons, age 88, of Union City passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2023 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Visitation was held 1-3 p.m. Sun-day, Feb. 5, 2023, at White-Ran-son Funeral Home. There was no service.
Barbara was born in Enid, Okla., on April 27, 1934, to the late John McIlwain and the late Vira Tansil McIlwain. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her three daughters, Laura Johnston of Union City, Jennifer Cole of Union City and Tammy Barnes and her husband, Keith, of Seale, Ala.; three sons, Glen Tate and his wife, Wendy, of Fultondale, Ala., Steve Tate of Scott, La., and Elton Copeland of Seale; nine grandchildren, Hunter Johnston, Ashley Tate, John Tate, Taryn Cain, Spencer Tate, Stewart Rutland, McKenna Walley, Courtney Dobbs and Christian Creekman; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles McIlwain of Union City; and one sister, Margaret Kennedy of Union City.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by two children, Angie and Danny Copeland; two brothers, Glenn and Marion McIlwain; and three sisters, Mary Woodruff Wright, Jean Hollingsworth and Judy McIlwain.
