Traffic stop leads to high-speed pursuit of Union City man
Story by Shannon Taylor Senior Investigative Reporter
A traffic stop for a light law violation in Martin turned into a pursuit for Weakley County Sheriff’s Department’s Sergeant Shannon Neal on Dec. 10.
At 2:50 a.m. Neal observed a grey Dodge Charger with a headlight out on University Street. After attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver, 24-year-old Bradley A. Dillon from Union City, fled the scene with a Martin Police Department officer recording him traveling at a speed of 113mph in a 30mph zone.
Dillon was traveling at that speed near the McDonalds heading towards Union City. Dillon ran both redlights between College Street and Highway 431 and at that point, the pursuit was terminated, and Union City Police Department was informed.
Union City PD were able to make contact with the vehicle shortly after, due to an unmarked unit in the area. Dillon was followed to Sadler’s Bar and Grill where he was stopped, and officers made contact with him.
Neal arrived at the scene and identified Dillon as the driver. An inventory of the vehicle was completed before towing and revealed an open container. Dillon was arrested, transported to WCSD and charged with reckless driving, felony evading, open container, violation of light law, violation of traffic light and speeding.
DISCLOSER: All information obtained came from the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department incident report provided by Sergeant Shannon Neal.
