Update on Weakley County Detention Center project

At the Nov. 10 Public Safety Commission meeting an update was given regarding the progress of the Weakley County Detention Center. According to the progress report, the roof is almost completed. Metal details for coping cap, flashings and all counter flashings have been ordered. The flashing work is being handled on all roof sections with garland details being followed. The expected completion date is Nov. 17 as long as the weather permits.

The wall flashing details have been installed and terminated to not allow any moisture into the system. The KEE membrane, counterflashing and metal details will be added in a week. The metal has been ordered and is supposed to be delivered soon.

Garland details are being followed by flashing all penetrations and curbs and course SilverFlash and poly are being added to all the flashing laps.

RTU replacement will start on Nov. 7 with the high roof units. They hope to have all the units back up and running by the end of the day Nov. 9 barring any unforeseen problems. The next set of units will be scheduled soon after with the jail administration’s permission.

The secure ceiling demo will start Nov. 8 and then they will start the installation of the new secure ceiling on Nov. 14.

The lighting arrest system will start the first week of December. And exhaust fans will be replaced one at a time when they get delivered in mid-December.

The fire alarm system upgrades will also start in mid-December and HVAC controls installation will start Nov. 14 and continue through the end of March 2023.

Three resolutions concerning budget amendments were tabled for the time being because of Weakley County Sheriff Terry McDade’s absence. Discussions for those resolutions plan to resume at the finance, ways and means committee meeting on Nov. 17.
