Tennessee Lottery Commission looking into theft at Little General in Sharon

story by Senior Investigative Reporter Shannon Taylor

A Sharon woman was booked over the weekend regarding an incident that happened on Oct. 11 at The Little General in Sharon. Chief Mark Kimsey of Sharon Police Department received a report from a complainant who stated that when she came into work that day, she found one of the registers was short money.

When the complainant watched the footage, she observed 25-year-old Robin Bequette take a lottery ticket from the reel, ring it up at the register and not pay for it. Bequette then scratched the ticket off and threw it in the trash. Bequette proceeded to do this three more times.

There was an additional ticket taken and scanned, but Bequette did not throw it away in view of the camera. This was believed to have been a winning ticket and the Tennessee Lottery Commission is currently looking into the matter.

The complainant also observed the offender take 25 dollars from the petty cash container and put it into the register where she had rung up the tickets. It is believed by the complainant that this was done so that the drawer would not be short so much money.

While reviewing the footage the complainant also observed Bequette sell tobacco products to her own sister, a minor. The complainant was able to positively ID the buyer from the security footage.

Bequette has been charged with theft and sale of tobacco to a minor.

The correct pronoun of who came in and found the register and petty short is HE. Only thing a SHE did was review security cameras that He was also present for since HE reported it to the SHE.
