Dresden Chief of Police Christopher Crcoker

Story by Senior Investigative Reporter Shannon Taylor

Dresden Chief of Police Christopher Crocker announced his resignation at the Dresden board of mayor and alderman Nov. 7.

Crocker received an employment opportunity with the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) and after careful consideration, he accepted the position.

In his resignation letter Crocker stated, “It has been a pleasure working for the city of Dresden in a full-time and part-time status for a total of approximately 11 years. I have been fortunate to have a great group of guys in the police department and a boss so dedicated to her job as Jennifer Branscum.”

Crocker went on to say that he has been preparing Lieutenant Bryan Chandler for the transition of his duties. Chandler will take over as Interim Police Chief until the new board of mayor and alderman vote on a new police chief.

Crocker has been Dresden’s Police Chief for the past two years and served as interim police chief prior to that. Crocker began his career with the Dresden Police Department in 2011 for a little over four years before going to the Weakley County Sheriff’s Office for four and a half years before returning to Dresden.

Crocker grew up in Carroll County and is the son of Steve and Anita Crocker of McKenzie. Crocker has lived in Weakley County for 14 years.

Crockers’ last day of employment will be Nov. 25, 2022.
