Hollow Rock man charged with assault in Gleason

On Oct. 29 around 9:52 p.m., Patrolman Joseph Bates with Gleason Police Department was advised of an assault in progress on Holland Street in Gleason. When Bates arrived, the complainant and the victim stated that the complainant’s ex-boyfriend and father of her daughter, Justin Butler from Hollow Rock, had shown up at her residence and proceeded to start an altercation with the complainant’s current boyfriend, the victim.
The complainant stated that Butler pulled up near the residence and jumped out of his vehicle and charged towards them on their front porch. Both parties then stated that Butler began hitting the victim and pushing him to the ground. The complainant stated that at one point, Butler had the victim in a headlock and was choking him.
The complainant further stated that when Butler heard her on the phone with dispatch he quickly got back to his vehicle and left. The victim had bruises, cuts and knots on his face and head and pictures were taken of his injuries. EMS arrived on scene to assess the injuries but did not transport the victim.
Written statements were received by both complainant and victim and Butler was charged with simple assault.
