NEW MAYOR

NEW MAYOR — Steve Carr (center) was sworn in late Wednesday afternoon as Obion County mayor, with his wife, Renee, holding a family Bible as the oath was administered by Circuit Judge Jeff Parham. The 118-year-old Bible had been a gift to his great-grandfather, the late Luther Carr, in 1904. Carr officially took office Thursday, succeeding longtime mayor Benny McGuire. He was among several Obion County elected officials and judges who were sworn in Wednesday in the circuit courtroom at the courthouse.
