HERO’S WELCOME

HERO’S WELCOME — Soldiers from the Tennessee National Guard’s 913th Engineer Co., based in Union City, were greeted by loved ones as they stepped off a bus and arrived home about 4 p.m. Wednesday at the armory on East Reelfoot Avenue. They returned after spending more than a year away from home supporting contingency operations near Laredo, Texas, located on the Mexican border. They were greeted with hugs and happy tears from family and friends, many of whom waved American flags or held signs to welcome them. Union City police and Obion County sheriff’s deputies gave the soldiers a special escort to the armory on the final leg of their journey home.
