| Briefly Mayfield class of field; Devils 2nd as a unit South Fulton’s Chase Mayfield was the best individual golfer at a three-way at Dyersburg that also included Union City on Monday. Mayfield finished with a 35 — a shot under-par — but the Red Devil team was bested by the host Trojans 167-184. UC came in third with a 201. For the SF boys, Hunter Hutchins carded a 39, Hunter Faulkner shot a 54 and J.B. Graves added a 56. The Twisters had Britton Bugg with a 43, Grant Walton a 48, Clay Treece a 52 and Josh McManus and Turner Ams both logging 58s. McManus’ total was dropped from the final UC tally. On the girls’ side, the Lady Twisters came away with a forfeit win as the only team with the two golfers necessary to compete as a squad. Erica Sturkie was the girls’ medalist with a 46, while Mollie Stone added a 49. SF returns to the links this afternoon against Obion Central at the Fulton Country Club, while Union City travels to Trenton today. LR girls come through in clutch vs. Hillcrest When the chips were down, Lake Road came through on Monday. The Lady Generals — who are the defending Obion County School System softball champions — came through in the clutch striking for eight runs in the final two innings for a 10-4 come-from-behind victory over Hillcrest. With the latest triumph, LR improves to 11-0. Alex Wilson was 3-for-4 with two triples and three runs batted in for the Lady Generals. Meanwhile, LR’s Payton Robertson and McKenna Stephenson both turned in 3-for-4 outings. Hillcrest, which led 4-2 until the fifth inning, was paced offensively by Rachel Jones’ three hit-afternoon. Otherwise, Ashlyn Runions legged out a triple for the Lady Cougars (3-6) and losing pitcher Juliane Albright hit safely once. LR hosts Martin tonight at the Obion Central field, while Hillcrest returns to action next Monday against South Fulton in Troy. Local outdoorsmen to get time on tube Four local outdoorsmen and Reelfoot Lake will be featured on the Outdoor Channel’s “Knight and Hale’s Ultimate Hunting” program. Mike Terry, Richard Reese, Ron Cooper and Tim Blackley were filmed last winter duck hunting in the Walnut Log area on Reelfoot Lake. The program will air three times, Wednesday at 6 a.m., Thursday at 2 p.m. and Saturday at 8 p.m. Obion Central golfers top W’view in Troy The Obion Central golf team defended its home turf on Monday. The Rebel linksters topped Westview 161-178 at Wynridge Greens. OC’s Ethan Rudd was the medalist in the match, which was supposed to be a three-team competition but was not due to Crockett County only bringing two players. Otherwise, Garrett Booth carded a 40, Trevor Riley a 42 and John Michael Green a 43 for the Rebels. The OC golf team plays South Fulton this afternoon at the Fulton Country Club. Devilette softballers outlast Martin girls South Fulton outlasted Martin 7-6 in extra innings on Monday afternoon. The Devilettes tied the game in the bottom of the sixth and then pushed across the winning run in the home half of the extra frame. Aalia Bivens paced the SF hitters with a 3-for-4 afternoon and a double, while Haeven Sisson also added three hits. Miranda Johns also reached safely twice for South Fulton.
