Glenda Chrisp

Glenda Chrisp passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026. She was born on Dec. 23, 1935, to the late Kathryne and James Sims.
A lifelong member of the Methodist Church, she dedicated her life to serving God, her family and others. Glenda will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and genuine interest in others. She had a welcoming presence and a gift for making everyone feel valued.
She had a passion for fashion, decorating and music. She sang in the church choir for most of her life. She was also known for her delicious homemade rolls that she learned to make from her mother.  
She was a beloved community leader, advocate and ambassador for Obion County, leaving behind a legacy of service, warmth and dedication to the place she proudly called home.
Glenda was widely known for her lifelong commitment to promoting Obion County, its people and its rich cultural heritage. She was honored as a Pride of Obion County recipient and was recognized for her tireless work in tourism, economic development and civic engagement. Through her leadership and passion, she played a pivotal role in highlighting the region’s history, attractions and local businesses.
Glenda’s impact on Obion County will be felt for generations. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Tommy Chrisp; her children, Jan (Michael) Barnett, Gaye (Randy) Scott and Stephanie (Ben) Stewart; and her three grandchildren, Brian Barnett, Kristin Barnett and James William Stewart.
In addition to her parents, Glenda was proceeded in death by her brother, Ray Sims.  
A celebration of life will be held at noon on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at First Methodist Church in Union City, honoring her remarkable contributions and the many lives she touched. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10 a.m. until the service starts at noon.
