FIRST PLACE

FIRST PLACE — Riata Davanzo, 7-year-old daughter of Matt Davanzo of Union City, won first place in the “other” category with her horny toad named Spike during Troy Community Involvement Days’ pet show Saturday. Despite his name, Spike is actually a lizard and not a toad, with the “toad” part of his name referencing his stout size and shape. Sponsored by the Troy Community Association, the annual event offered festival-goers a variety of fun events, games and contests. Unfortunately, Saturday night’s Double Edge Band concert and street dance were halted by a thunderstorm.
