CLEANING TOMBSTONES — Tracey Batey, Reelfoot Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution regent, worked Saturday to clean lichen and other organic growth from the tombstone of Willie A. Jones and Mittie H. Shropshire at City View Cemetery in Union City. Ms. Jones died Jan. 20, 1931, while her sister died Aug. 30, 1943. Mrs. Batey, who helps coordinate the Wreaths Across America event at Beulah Church Cemetery near Union City each year, participated in the event sponsored by the Tennessee Historic Cemetery Preservation Program.
