CLEAR SKY

CLEAR SKY — As Obion County residents began to awaken Monday morning, there may have been doubts about seeing the partial solar eclipse which was to come through the area later that day. The clouds eventually rolled out and the sky cleared, allowing area residents to watch the celestial event that began in Union City at 12:41 p.m. and reached its maximum of 99.2 percent at 1:59 p.m. before ending at 3:17 p.m., according to timeanddate.com. Union City was fortunate to witness this cosmic spectacle and The Messenger, according to editor Donna Ryder, was fortunate to have sports editor Kevin Weaks and his photographic equipment and skills to capture it.
