Jimmy Edgin

Jimmy Allen Edgin, 74, of Dyersburg died on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, at his residence in Dyersburg.
Born Sunday, Feb. 6, 1949, in Lake County, he was the son of the late Herman B. Edgin and the late Catherine Lee Edgin. Mr. Edgin was a former supervisor for 36 years at Goodyear in Union City. He later worked for the Dyer County School System as the head custodian for Fifth Consolidated School in Dyer County. Mr. Edgin was a member of Lenox Baptist Church in Lenox, where he served as a deacon for many years and also taught the men’s Sunday school class.
Funeral services for Mr. Edgin will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Mr. Billy Brooks and Mr. David Brooks. Interment will follow at Dyer County Memorial Gardens in Dyers-burg. Visitation for Mr. Edgin will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He leaves, to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 56 years, Brenda Brooks Edgin of Dyersburg; one son, Chad Edgin of Dyersburg; one daughter, Missy Harris (Michael) of Burlison; one brother, Larry B. Edgin of Prairieville, La.; and he was “Papa” to his three grandchildren, Brooke Regen (Andrew), Hunter Harris (Chelsea) and Annie Craft (Stone); and three great-grandchildren, Parker Regen, Presley Regen and Maren Harris.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathy Holloman and Joan Gantt; and one brother, Lee Edgin.
Honoring Mr. Edgin as pallbearers will be Roger Bell, Bob Veal, Monty Long, Brad Tubbs, David Haddock and Kevin Ward. Honorary pallbearers will be Jake Haddock, John Haddock and Thomas “Tater” Brandenburg.
