Gofundme started for Dresden Couple impacted by tornado
A Gofundme account has been created to help the couple injured during the tornado that hit Dresden on Dec. 9. Christel Laney said she started the account on Dec. 12 after witnessing the devastation firsthand. The description for the account reads as follows:

“Roy and Lois Lambert of Summers Road in Dresden, Tenn., were at home Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, when an EF-1 tornado slammed through their house, picking it up off the foundation and flipped it upside down, destroying it. The couple was transported to a nearby hospital in Martin. Roy suffered lacerations in the incident, while his wife, Lois, was airlifted to a hospital in Memphis. She suffered multiple injuries and has spent her first few days there in the ICU before being moved to a regular room on Tuesday (Dec. 12). Lois is expected to be discharged from the hospital later this week, but she has a long road of healing and recovery ahead.
With the help of nearby friends, Roy managed to get transportation to the hospital in Memphis wearing the clothes on his back. He is staying in a chair in his wife’s room. Their family is spread throughout parts of the Southern United States.
Roy is a veteran of the United States Air Force and their son, John, is in the United States Navy, stationed in Gulfport, Miss.
The couple is in their mid-60s and upon Lois’ discharge from the hospital, the couple has no home to return to and their belongings are scattered throughout the countryside in Dresden.
This fund was created to help the couple be able to move into stable housing and get back on their feet as they rebuild the pieces of their lives lost in the tornado on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023.
The couple relied on Roy’s income. He worked from home for a national banking company. It is uncertain when he may be able to return to generating an income for he and Lois.
There is an account set up to at Simmons Bank where you can also go to donate money if you prefer not to use GoFundMe. No donation is too small to help this sweet couple get back on their feet! Thank you so much for all your help!”
