World Series first pitch

The 2023 World Series will not start until the ceremonial first pitch is thrown.
One young man who will be on the field for the ceremony has an Obion County and northwest Tennessee background.
Maddox Harrold, a native of Union City, will be handing the baseball for former president George W. Bush for the first pitch prior to Game 1 of the 2023 World Series between the Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, on Friday night.
The game is scheduled to begin at 7:03 p.m. and will be televised on FOX.
Harrold, 15, currently resides in Arlington and was given the opportunity by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County. He was the 2023 Youth of the Year recipient for Tarrant County.
He is the son of Youree Maddox Dickerson, a Union City High School graduate and University of Tennessee at Martin alumni, and Dante Harrold, also a UTM alum.
Harrold will have plenty of support from family members, both locally and in Texas.
He is the grandson of Terrence Maddox and Pamela Maddox of Garland, Texas, as well as Teresa Lockridge Edwards and Willis Edwards of Martin, and he is the great-grandson of Ardell and Mary Maddox of Union City.
