The funeral arrangements have been set for Dresden native and longtime Tennessee Senator Roy Herron. Herron died Sunday night due to complications following a jet-ski accident on Kentucky Lake on July 1.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Martin, Tennessee on Friday, July 14, and from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday, July 15. The service will take place at the First United Methodist Church in Martin at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The address of the church is 225 Main Street in Martin.
Videographers will be present so visitors can make a video of your favorite “Roy story,” which will be cherished by his sons and shared with his future grandchildren. Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Arrangements are being made by Murphy Funeral Home in Martin.
After the service, there will be a party celebrating Roy’s life. The location is set tentatively Blake’s at Southern Milling, located at 312 N. Lindell Street in Martin.
For those of you who can’t make it on Saturday, another celebration/wake to tell “Roy stories” is being planned, again tentatively, for 1410 Rosa L. Parks in Nashville, Tennessee on September 30, which would have been Roy’s 70th birthday.
