Swannee Rice
Mrs. Swannee Rice, 96, a resident of Hickman, Ky., died June 1, 2023, at Diversicare of Martin.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Hickman. The Revs. John and Nancy Var-den officiated. Burial followed in Hickman City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Will Rice, Rodney Cearley, Charles Cooper, Matt Sanner, Jim Major, Keith Roberson, Doug Voorhees, Steve Shaw and Ricky Parker.
Honorary pallbearers were Jim Shaw, George Shaw, Bob Stubblefield, Vernon Stubblefield, David Holland, Carol Ozier, Cubb Stokes and Betty Speed.
The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday and 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Monday at the church.
White-Ranson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Rice was born on July 1, 1926, in Hickman to the late Millard Edgar and Mary Elizabeth (Burrus) Shaw.
She was a homemaker. On July 20, 1947, she married Harold Rice. He preceded her on March 8, 2005. She attended Judson College in Marion, Ala., and Murray State College, and was in the Tri Sigma Sorority. Mrs. Rice was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hickman. She was also involved in the Arts Council Community Concerts.

She is survived by two sons, Hal Rice and wife, Beverly, of Union City, and Dan Rice and wife, Beth, of Hickman; four grandchildren, Will Rice and wife, Emily, of Hickman, Sara Kate Cooper and husband, Charles, of Charleston, S.C., Avery Cearley and husband, Rodney, of Brentwood and Kaigan Davis of Union City; and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy and Mill Shaw; and two sisters, Charlotte Stubblefield and Alice Shaw.
