James Shell

Mr. James Henry Shell, age 76, of Union City, formerly of Hickman, Ky., passed away at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
James was born on March 7, 1947, in Hickman to the late Hubbard and Thelma (Cavashere) Shell. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served six years, and a veteran of the Vietnam War. James was a member of Harris Methodist Church near Union City. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and spent much of his time outdoors.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a son, Jamie Shell; four brothers, Julian, Eddie, Johnny and Jeff Shell; and three sisters, Martha Shell, Jean (Shell) Powell and Marsha (Shell) Murray.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Judy (Ross) Shell; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins that he loved dearly.
Funeral services for Mr. James Henry Shell were to be held today, March 22, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Strong Funeral Home, with Pastor JoNell Copeland and Pastor Dale True officiating. Burial was to follow in the Obion County Memorial Gardens with military rites.
The family received visitors on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, from 5-7 p.m. at Strong Funeral Home and again today, March 22, 2023, from 11 a.m. until service time.
