Sharon man charged with possession of meth and resisting arrest

On March 6 at approximately 5:20 pm, Deputy Gary Eddings with the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department, along with Deputy Joseph Crocker, arrived at a residence in Gleason to arrest 43-year-old Michael Bynum for an active warrant out of Weakley County General Sessions Court. Bynum also had an active warrant out of Carroll County.

A friend of the defendant came to the door and said that Bynum was in the back room of the house. Eddings went to the back of the house and saw Bynum sitting on a couch with a syringe in his hand along with a bag of meth.

Bynum was told to drop the syringe and put his hands up because he was under arrest. Bynum then stood up, turned his back to Eddings and put the bag of meth in his mouth.

Eddings then tazed Bynum because he would not comply with his commands and was trying to destroy evidence.

After Bynum was placed in cuffs, Crocker recovered the syringe and the bag of meth which contained .51 grams of methamphetamine and the syringe had a small amount of residue left inside it.

Bynum admitted that the substance was meth and was charged with resisting arrest, simple possession of schedule II and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bynum’s court date is set for March 9 at 2 pm in Weakley County General Sessions Court.

DISCLOSER: Information obtained came from the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department affidavit provided by Deputy Gary Eddings.
