Community Concerns with Shannon
by Shannon Taylor Senior Investigative Reporter
Our first question comes from Kim Longacre from Martin. She asked, “Do we have a city-wide clean-up day coming soon? There’s a lot of litter up and down Hyndsver Road as well as the parking lots behind downtown.”
Kim, The Northwest Tennessee Local Food Network is organizing an Earth Day Celebration at the Martin Farmers Market pavilion on Saturday, April 22 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Executive Director and Co-Manager of Martin Farmers Market Samantha Goyret stated that they are still confirming participating organizations, but so far there will be a city-wide cleanup hosted by the Martin Beautiful Committee and the #GrowFoodChallenge kick-off event with free seed distribution and plant and pot swap.
Goyret said that they will be sending out a google docs registration form as soon as they can make it. “Planning is in the works.” We should have more information on March 1.
Thanks for the question, Kim!
