Inez Morphis
Inez Polk Morphis, 88, of Union City passed away 11:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2023, at her home.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. today in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Dr. Matthew Nance will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of services today.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Inez was born Sept. 23, 1934, in Hickman, Ky., daughter of the late Arch and Odie (Bridges) Polk. She married Fred Morphis Jr. Aug. 12, 1953. He preceded her in death Nov. 27, 2015. Inez was a retired certified nurses assistant and a private sitter. She was a member of Bishop Street Church of Christ and was an avid reader.
She is survived by one daughter, Karen Trout of Union City; one son-in-law, Nickie Clark of Martin; six grandchildren, Jason Morphis (Brittany) of Union City, Derrick Morphis (Kandi) of Rives, Bruce Clark of South Fulton, Dylan Trout (Sadye) of Troy and Jason Trout and Shannon Belote, both of Memphis; 11 great-grandchildren, Austin Morphis, Addison Morphis, Reuben Morphis, Dylan Clark, Nicole Clark, Paisley Claire Trout, Parker Kate Trout, Banks Trout, Bayler Trout, Skylar Belote and Scarlett Belote; and four great-great-grandchildren, Lena Clark, Gabriel Clark, Asher Chambers and Richard Sparks.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, James Robert Morphis and George “Freddie” Morphis; one daughter, Deborah Clark; her son-in-law, Jimmy Trout; two sisters, Catherine Polk and Mary Tidwell; and one brother, Robert Polk.
