Carrie Byars
Carrie Ellen Byars, 87, of Union City passed away 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, at The Waters of Union City.
Funeral services were to be conducted 1 p.m. today in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Pastor Russell Zik was to officiate.
Burial was to follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation was be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the hour of services today.
Pallbearers were to be family members.
Carrie was born Jan. 30, 1935, in Leslie County, Ky., daughter of the late Farmer and Matilda (Brock) Asher. She married Guy Byars Feb. 27, 1974. He preceded her in death April 23, 2013. Carrie was a homemaker who loved to sew, cook, sing and play guitar. She loved flowers, birds, crafting and reading and studying her Bible. Carrie was a member of Second Baptist Church in Union City.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Leonard “Len” and Rhonda Davis of Tallahassee, Fla.; her bonus children, Cindy Bynum of Martin, Monty Byars and wife, Mary, of Rives and Lisa Horner and husband, Jim, of Union City; her daughter-in-law, Judy Byars of Union City; one sister, Margie Brock of Witley City, Ky.; two brothers, Roscoe Asher and Earl Dean Asher, both of Helton, Ky.; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Donnie Brock and Russell Brock; her bonus children, Paul Byars, Paula Counsell and Butch Byars; one sister, Myrtle Egan; and three brothers, T.J. Asher, Leemon Asher and Eugene Asher.
The family would like to extend thanks to The Waters of Union City; Baptist Memorial Hospice; her “adopted daughter, Angie Simbeck; and caregiver, Jennifer Eggert, for their love and care for Carrie.
